Finally met the "Gimp" tonite.....seems like a nice guy, and he has a pretty cool set-up on a lil' Luv pickup. The crowd was kinda thin @ Angleton Dragway, but it'll get better w/ warm weather coming. Eugene has his Chevelle out, Mike Crisp hit the wall, & I found out that Ed & Deanna Anderson sold her Pro Stock Pontiac....to Hurta ....wheew...enuff gossip for one nite! The Mustang should come home maybe this weekend.... [ add comment ]

Went to visit the chassis gurus at Santa Fe today, to check on the status of our lil' pony. It was exciting to see all the progress made, & the new parts installed. Rick Stevens & Aaron (I wish I could remember his last name) have done a great job. The ladder bars & coil-over shocks are installed and the brackets are tacked in place on the rear end ready for welding out. They say that if everything works out, it'll be ready next weekend! Aaron's dad came riding up on an early 60's vintage bicycle (the kind w/twin headlights built into the frame). He's a Ford man (building a vintage 'Stang), and talks a lot of trash about Chevys, which tickles me. I tried to take a pic or two of the progress of our car, and I hope they're not too dark.

When I left there, it was a coin toss of whether to go on to a big race in North Houston to see the Pro Mods bounce cross East Mt. Houston Highway (LOL), or go home and work on the house bid. Heads won... I'm home, but the bid has to wait 'til the end of this post.............
I went home by way of highway 646 and 2004. Where these two roads intersect, there was a "refreshment stop" by name of "Cruiser's Ice House". At high noon, this place was jumpin' with a BBQ benefit, live band, and about 200 Harley Riders on a Poker Run. I stopped in as I was "parched", & got a cold one. Attached below is one of the bikers that I met. She was the prettiest lookin' one in the place with a tight red turtle neck sweater, black leather jacket, road goggles and real short blonde hair. She even had her name on her helmet! Veronica's in E.Texas visiting her folks. Ooooohhhhh the temptation! I just HAD to take her picture.....

After several real estate visits & a lot of number crunching, Veronica & I have decided to stay put and do some remodeling of our present home (sorry, neighbors). We sat down and decided what to do, and it seems fairly extensive. As I'm not in the remodeling biz & have no clue about cost, we drew up a floor plan and have plans to go out & get some bids. During a break at work, I scribbled out on the dry-erase board our floor plan (present & future) and asked my co-workers what they thought it would cost. I got varying figures, so I decided to go back to plan "A" & get bids from the experts.
Soooo, back to work. We left the breakroom & I neglected to erase my sketch. I have a couple of "cartoonists" in my crew, and they decided to give me thier input via marksalot. When I saw it at lunch, I thought, "These guys don't need to be welders, they need to be ARCHITECTS!! THIS IS GENIOUS! Why didn't I think of that???!!!??" Thier little add-on was just what I was looking for, so I thought I'd post it below. Whadya think, Veronica? ;o)

Just got a phone call, so we don't have to wait 'til tomorrow! Joey just proposed to Loni!
Loni just called Veronica talkin' a mile a minute!
No details on future wedding plans for now, but a major hen party is predicted at WCR headquarters tomorrow!! Guess what, Joey --- while I'm blasting the pony down the track with the new back-half, you'll be going to all those "Bridal Extravaganzas"! BWUAH-HAAAA-HA-HA-HAAAAA!!
All BS aside, I couldn't be happier for these two!
As probably everyone already knows, I'm awfully proud of ALL my kids, and NOW I"VE GOT ANOTHER ONE TO BRAG ON! Veronica wants everyone to know that MOM'S PROUD TOO!
One more thing.......SIZE DOES MATTER. This kid put a one karat solitaire on her finger tonite! Joey, you're settin one helluva a precedence! I'm still working on talking him out of a winter wedding....anniversaries sure do screw up a good deer hunt!

Our Pony got out & won't come home....

Yeah, that's rite..... The 'Stang FINALLY made the trip to Santa Fe today, for all the rear suspension mods that we've been waiting on. Although all the parts hadn't arrived yet, Rick Stevens showed me the ladder bars and Strange adjustable coil-over shocks that had already come in from Chassis Engineering. And I thought Christmas was in December!! When we drove away, it was like leaving the family dog at the boarding kennell when I was a kid. I kept thinking to myself, "What the Hell am I gonna do for the next 3 weeks??!??" Oh well, I soon got over any and all anxieties while sucking down a cold one(s) & scarfing up some fried zuchinni (sp?) and Shrimp Enbrochette at Landry's in Kemah, with Veronica (one of those Valentines things).
PS:.......Iiiiii've got a 'lil secret........but I'll tell ya tommorrow... ;)
