SPONSORSHIP!!!!!
Thursday, April 28, 2005, 11:12 AM
The WCR Mustang will be blastin' down the track this weekend at Baytown's Houston Raceway Park.
We're competing in the "Fun Ford Weekend" anual event, which is a three day hoot! We've been going for the past several years, and this year will be even better as our lil' pony will be brought to you by not one, but TWO co-sponsors!
That's right, the nice people at Greatland Corporation, and VIR (Valves & Industrial Resources, LP), have offered to help us out, and I can't thank them enough!

We're planning on rollin' out in the morning, and getting set up in the pits early enough to get a decent spot. Joey didn't think he could get away from school in time to run the Friday nite qualifier, but things have changed and he will get to run. We'll run a couple of time trials Saturday AM, then run the last two qualifiers in the afternoon, and possibly the first elimination round that nite. Sunday will be the real race day with eliminations starting at noon.

If you've never been to a Fun Ford Weekend event, you've missed out. Aside from three days of great racing, there's a car show, swap meet, and a great midway. In the pits, we'll be grillin' & chillin'. Travis is coming out Saturday with a couple of buddies,so it's pretty safe to say there'll be a game or two of 42 between races. If you want to spend a great day at the track, this is the weekend to do it! Come see us in the pits! Look for an American flag and a Ford Racing flag flying at the end of a trailer with a mustang parked nearby. There will only be about 400 to pick from 'til you find us!

Drove to HRP last nite & met up w/Joey to get some 1/4 mile passes down, in preparation for FFW. There were a gazillion bikes running, as Saturday was some kinda mega bike race. Because of that and the typhoon that blew in about 9:15, Joey only got two passes in. The plan was to make 3 passes a lil' off time, and then tweek a few things to get a .090 sec reduction, as we're racing w/ a .1 sec breakout pad. 11.11 and 11.07 were about where we wanted to be before mother nature put her boot in our butts. We'll be back next week.....

We came home from Dallas on Monday, and got home in time to get the new slicks mounted on the car. Additionally, I had time to talk some more with a potential sponsor over a couple of cold ones. If everything goes right, Fun Ford Weekend will feature the Wild Cherry race car which will be brought to you at by our 1st official sponsor! I really don't want to reveal these folks until it's official, but to top that off, we have a second sponsor talking about covering us for the FFW event at Ennis in the fall! Life is good.

I’m getting too old to play that hard.......

We went to Dallas last weekend and did the NASCAR thing. It was awesome. We drove up Saturday, and went out to the track, toured the midway, and wound up partying with some friends that night who were camped out with the other gazillion fans. It was one big crazy party........ one word: "BEADS". Sunday, we returned from our motel in Lewisville and hung out in the Interstate Batteries hospitality tent, took a tour of the infield, and settled in about noon to watch the Nextel race…. Awesome race! We had a lotta fun, but I’m still getting over it . I guess I’m getting too old to play that hard.
