Gaining Momentum...

We should be getting the block, pistons, & crank back from Owens hopefully by the end of the week. The nice man in the brown delivery truck dropped off a package Friday, that included piston rings, main bearings, rod bearings, new oil pump w/ARP driveshaft, and a handy little gadget that makes ring filing a walk in th' park.... assembly of the short block will soon begin....about the same time our home will be turned into a war zone due to remodeling efforts beginning. Which pix updates do you want to see? MOTOR BUILD THAT FEATURE FORGED INTERNALS, 4-BOLT BILLET MAINS, & CUSTOM GROUND CAMSHAFTS......or...sheetrock & carpet???????

Well, Joey took the final remaining four ASE mechanical certification tests this week and passed them all! The tests were "Automatic Transmissions", "Manual Transmissions & Drive-axles", "Steering & Suspension", and "Brakes". Joey has passed all eight certification tests and after logging so many mechanic hours (on his tools), he will be an officially certified "ASE Mechanic", which ain't too shabby on a resume.
Congratulations to you Joey! We're proud of you!

It was Memorial Day weekend when the cracked block was discovered. We all sat down and did some soul searching and money number crunching to decide whether to go back to "spectating" and sell the car, or to stay in & rebuild. If we were to stay in, we were gonna dial it up a notch or two.

Well, I took a 1/2 day of vacation yesterday and made a trip to Tommie Vaughn Ford Motorsports, where I spent some pretty serious money. The purchased piece will go to Owens Racing this weekend.

The line's been drawn in the sand. We're committed. Even so, with all factors involved (graduations, weddings, remodeling, babies, & LACK OF FUNDS), it's gonna be a long row to hoe. We won't be back on the track this season, but we ought to be loaded for bear by next spring.

"One in the Oven"

… For the past 3 daze, I’ve struggled tying to present a “Visual” depiction of my latest father’s day present… unfortunately I’m pretty sure that it’s me that’s not smart enuff to make it happen. (Veronica’s in Kansas City & things will be better soon).

For the last month, we’ve had a date with our oldest son & his better half, Jonda, to burn some burgers in their back yard. Knowing the date was clashing with the “Paper Chase” race, I told him a couple of weeks ago that we might have to cut the visit short. He insisted that we make it and sure enuff, the big race at ADW rained out…who would’ve thought?

Anyhoo, thru the course of the afternoon, they presented us dads with a “belated” Father’s day gift, which consisted of a case of our favorite beer, & something wrapped which looked like a framed photograph. I was correct about the framed photo, but my expected pic turned out to be a 5x7 sonogram of the dearest 7 week old fetus that I’VE BEEN SHOWING OFF FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS!!!

That’s right, our first grandchild! The lil’ guy(gal)’s supposed to be here ~ late February, & we’ll keep ya posted. I could go on & on & on about this is gonna be a kick-ass kid, but sincerely, my only prayer is for it’s health, because I know that mom & dad are gonna raise this kid just fine. Trust me…. You will be updated on a regular basis.

....been a while since anything's been posted, since we're still looking for change under the couch to get back on the track..... We're makin' headway though, as the remodeling contract's been signed and the loan's been approved. Now we're just waitin' for all that 2-3 weeks worth of closing BS. We do have a formal top secret game plan for the engine rebuild, and the light may turn green as early as this Saturday!

Hope it cools off though, our shop's not AC'd. We found a way to beat the heat a few weeks back... Nothing like an ice cold Lite Beer from Miller and a spring fed creek to reverse a heat stroke.

Kraus Springs fed creek feeding into northern Lake Travis.... and yes,I did have on more that just a smile and that ANGLETON DRAGWAY ball cap;)
